The Lead for the new Centre (CARE) is responsible for:
Shaping, leading and developing a broad team of staff and volunteers who deliver
learning opportunities via the Centre
Creating and overseeing a broad programme of learning opportunities
Developing strategic partnerships within and beyond the hospice that support the delivery and funding of the programme
To establish an exciting new centre which is envied across South East London and beyond.
To oversee the development of an annual programme of learning that reflects the broad range of opportunities within the markets identified.
To establish a team with a strong customer focus - committed to understanding what people who are interested to learn and would value most and skilled to explore with them how best to achieve their ambitions.
To create and deliver a programme of conferences and masterclasses aimed at professionals in palliative and end of life care, drawing on the expertise of the senior educationalist within the team
To create a programme of learning through which there is a mix of income generating activities alongside those that must be funded through charitable means. This mixed market is essential to achieving a budget in which some surplus is achieved each year,
whilst also reaching out to groups of people who may not be able/willing to pay for their learning via the Hub
To create annual objectives for the Centre that reflects corporate priorities and opportunities available to the Centre specifically. These will be reflected in the personal objectives set for all team members
To engage with the Executive Team and other senior managers within the organisation to maximise opportunities offered by the LH with regard to the strategic position of the hospice, workforce, its financial sustainability, delivery of its new care and
support strategy and broader strategic ambitions of the hospice
To connect with a variety of community leaders and others working with the public across SE London and beyond to identify new opportunities to develop and support nonprofessionals to engage in the end of life agenda
To engage with financial and other supporters of the Centre, at the request of the fundraising or Executive Team with a view to creating strong, valued, personal relationships with individuals, organisations and groups that can help the Centre achieve
To ensure that the Centre complies with all aspects of quality governance including those that relate to the safety of, a high-quality experience for, and an offer of learning that has a positive impact on, its users.
To create a strong leadership team within the Centre comprising the Senior Educationalist and the Business Manager who will work jointly to ensure that the Centre is successful in meeting its objectives
The post-holder will be expected to manage the following staff in line with
To establish an annual budget, working closely with the Business Manager and the Director of Finance and Corporate Services.
To report regularly to the Trustees regarding progress and plans
To attend open meetings and other events that enable the postholder to be confident regarding the corporate direction of the organisation and to shape it accordingly
