Set in beautiful Surrey countryside, the School’s 50-acre campus offers the advantages of proximity to a town centre and the cultural attractions of nearby London as well as excellent communications by road, rail and nearby airports Heathrow and Gatwick.

The Catering Porter will support the kitchen team in cleaning the catering areas and in the receiving and storage of deliveries.

The Catering Manager is responsible for the day to day management of staff within the Catering Department; in her absence responsibility is delegated to the Head Chef. The Operations Manager has overall responsibility for the Catering staff.


 To receive deliveries and to store them in the correct areas.
 To clear dirty plates and pots and other used items, and to wash up appropriately.
 To fetch and carry items as instructed by the chefs and management.
 To clean areas of the Dining Hall as instructed.
 To ensure all School and statutory regulations pertaining to health and safety, hygiene and fire are adhered to at all times.
 To ensure a standard of personal and general cleanliness and hygiene to comply with School and statutory regulations. Training will be provided which covers areas of personal and general cleanliness and hygiene.
 To ensure that all School and client contacts are handled in a thorough and responsible manner.
 To wear the correct standard of dress or uniform at all times, to include mask, gloves and protective eyewear where necessary. HACCP & COSHH training will be provided and you must comply with all regulations.
 To work in a professional manner and maintain a helpful attitude throughout the working day. You should ask for clarification of an instruction if you are not sure what is required.
 To maintain a high level of cleanliness and tidiness within the kitchen as well as the front and back of house areas at all times as reasonably practicable. You should complete all tasks as per the daily schedule.
 To ensure that all products are properly packaged, labelled and put in the correct storage areas, fridges or freezers on a rotation basis.
 To follow the School’s health and safety procedures at all times.
 To monitor and control supplies of cleaning materials, and report shortages to management so they can be reordered.
 To prepare vegetables using appropriate machinery and utensils as directed by the Chef.
 To carry out deep cleaning as and when directed by the Line Manager

 To assist with special functions from time to time, some of which may occur outside of normal working hours.

Previous experience is not essential as training is provided. Although an awareness of the importance of health and safety in the workplace is considered essential in the environment.

Basic salary will in Band 7 of the Support Staff Pay Scale as attached (£7.89 - £8.45 per hour), depending upon experience and qualifications. The salary is inclusive of holiday entitlement and annual leave must be taken in the school holidays. Holiday entitlement is 28 days including Bank Holidays (FTE) and 3 days at Christmas when the School is closed.

Hours of work are on a shift rota Monday to Sunday 7.00am to 3.30pm or 11am – 7.30pm, 40 hours per week, 36 weeks per year inclusive of unpaid breaks. Breaks are two fifteen minute breaks and one thirty minute lunch break during a shift.
There is a probationary period of six months and the appointment is subject to satisfactory references and clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Staff are permitted to use the facilities on site (such as the swimming pool, tennis courts and Library) at times which do not conflict with the School’s requirements and within the School rules. Lunch is provided during term time.
