Job Purpose:

Our client are the local authority in Coventry who are looking for a Carpenter on a 3 month ongoing contract to work under the direction of the Repairs Supervisor or Team Leader and provide a site based, practical solution to a variety of building service related customer needs including planned maintenance, reactive repairs and minor works.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

- All aspects of carpentry and joinery

- Safe working practices and maintaining a safe working environment

- Transportation and storage of materials 

- Customer care practices

- Approved City & Guilds/CITB qualification

- NVQ Levels 1, 2 and 3

Skills and Abilities:

- Site Setting out

- Window and Screens

- Door Installation and Repairs

- Finishing's

- Stairs

- Pitched and flat roof construction

- Special needs equipment

- Hold a current valid full driving licence

- The ability to communicate with supervisors, service users and colleagues

- Hold a valid DBS

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for carrying out all work in compliance with industry standards, British standards and applying all relevant Approved Codes of Practice.

- Responsible for ensuring personal skills, knowledge and qualifications are up to date as required by changing legislation

- Responsible for ensuring that all work issued is completed by due date and reporting full details of exceptions including liaison with customers

- Responsible for providing accurate reporting of progress and solutions to site contact and office colleagues

- Responsible for the accurate recording and reporting of work details and materials used on all work

- Responsible for the maintenance and/or safe use of any equipment, plant, vehicle or tools issued for the purpose of carrying out tasks

- Carry out fault diagnosis and repairs within the trade area

- Carry out planned maintenance and reactive repairs effectively and efficiently within target timescales given

- Liaise with Team Leader and Repairs Supervisor to ensure program schedules are realistic yet challenging

- Take part in a late rota to enable department to meet customer operational requirements

- Provide budget estimates detailing labour and material costs for follow up remedial repairs as necessary

- Operate computer systems concerned with operational control and reporting

- Ensuring the security and good housekeeping of all sites, equipment, and stores under his/her control

Additional Info:

- 37 hours p/w Mon - Fri

- Hourly rate - £14.27 p/h PAYE or £18 p/h umbrella

- Company Van provided
