To provide or support the provision of advice and guidance on technical/IT, scientific, engineering or statutory matters to professional and management colleagues or customers. OR
To monitor and co-ordinate technical and/or IT activities ensuring that policies, procedures, service level agreements and contractual requirements are adhered to. OR
To assess and audit the performance of service providers, statutory undertakers and other external bodies to ensure compliance with statutory, contractual and SCC policy requirements. OR
To supervise a small team responsible for collecting, validating and monitoring data and using a range of ICT systems to provide management information
To deliver elements of programmes and/or small or repetitive projects.
The individual assignment of the job may relate to all or any of the Key Accountabilities below:
Works with professional colleagues to initiate, develop and deliver specific delegated elements of engineering, scientific and IT projects using a combination of technical knowledge and interpersonal skills. Contribute to broader aspects of selected projects working with key stakeholders as agreed with senior colleagues. This involves consultation and engagement with service providers (in-house and external) on a range of technical and contractual matters.
Provide a range of support activities to senior colleagues/external bodies which may include provision of management information/statutory returns, investigations, research, training and development, preliminary design detail/scheme design, costing or technical analysis etc.
Work with managers and senior colleagues to plan and advise on the most effective and efficient way to provide a range of specialist engineering, technical and/or IT services
Co-ordinate the use of resources and the deployment of staff to deliver an agreed level of service and adapts plans to meet revised service needs and changed priorities.
Undertake a range of planned inspections, investigations and surveys to assess compliance. Identify defects and use delegated authority to require remedial/improvement work or to initiate enforcement action.
Undertake investigations, collect information and present findings and conclusions to enable the Council to pursue action as appropriate.
Prepare collate and extract technical data, information and draft reports for senior colleagues or stakeholders and ensure the dissemination of information to support consultation and communication.
Respond to or arrange for responses to be made regarding requests, observations or complaints from the public, local councils, elected members, customers and others on front line engineering, scientific or technical service/support matters. Ensure statutory and other returns are made accurately and on time.
May take responsibilities for the day to day supervision and deployment of front line support staff (e.g. Drivers).
