A manufacturing organisation based in Stonehouse have an opportunity for a buyer to join their successful business.


This varied and challenging position will be a great opportunity for a buyer who has previous experience within a manufacturing organisation.

Placing purchase orders with designated suppliers from the weekly purchase delinquency report and from overhead requisitions.

Investigating and negotiating with potential and existing suppliers in order to rationalize the supplier base where it is economically prudent and possible to do so.

Ensuring that stock levels do not exceed the budgeted levels, primarily of value, but also being cognisant of the physical limitations.

Assisting Estimating and Sales Departments with the provision of information relating to the most cost effective sources of supply.


In conjunction with Customers, Engineering and QA, develop approval for alternative products, particularly when such alternatives will yield cost efficiencies.

Liaising with QA regarding the formulation of technical data relating to problems that may arise with rejected and/or suspect materials and finalise satisfactory outcomes with suppliers.

Ensuring that all data relating to the purchase and stocking of materials is kept in an up-to-date manner that is available for the relevant personnel to view.

Provide reports as ‘necessary’ and appropriate - on value orders, savings, stock, etc.

Implement contracts with suppliers where it is appropriate to do so by virtue of annual spend and importance with logistical considerations for minimising stock holdings.

Expediting all overdue orders as necessary.

Effective and efficient utilisation of resource.

Ensuring the working environment complies with Health & Safety

Regulations (to the fore MUST be the maintenance of good housekeeping).

To participate and contribute in the initiation and implementation of change.





The successful candidate will have a can do attitude and be able to work as part of a team although remaining self motivated. You will have excellent written, presentation and communication skills and be able to effectively manage expectations and resolve problems.

The client offers a friendly working environment with a 37.5 hour week including an early finish on Friday's. The also offer a pension scheme, on site parking and a canteen.
