My client sell a service into the life sciences market.  They're currently looking for a hands-on Business Development Manager to expand their current client base as well as manage their existing customer relationships.

Basic salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience) + bonus + 25 days holiday + good pension + private healthcare.

This will be a hybrid field based business development / account management role, with the focus being on new business development.  

You'll generate new business through promoting the business over the phone; in face to face client meetings; at networking events; through social media and at conferences/events/exhibitions.  

They don't have a lead generation/telemarketing team so this will be a self-generating position - therefore you need to be comfortable with an element of cold calling in order to create your own appointments.  

We're looking for a proven Business Development Manager with experience of selling a service rather than a tangible product.  You'll have a good understanding of the life sciences industry, whether that be through education (i.e. a life sciences degree) or through your work experience. 

You must be able to open doors yourself, this opportunity is working for an SME so you won't have the comfort of a large PLC structure behind you - you will effectively be the sales team!  

You'll need to be confident & able to chat to anyone as networking represents a large part of this role - you'll be someone who can strike up a conversation with people of all levels & build effective relationships off the back of it.

Finally you should be an energetic, self-motivated individual, who is keen to progress their career within the life sciences industry.  There would be exciting career prospects for the right individual.
