Our client are one of the Uk’s largest and most successful independent Hazardous Material distribution companies within the UK.

A business that now recruits over 10,000 people globally and has been established for over 40 years. The business has a clear focus on staff development and there is no exception within this current Job they are recruiting.

Based in Grays and due to internal promotion they are looking to recruit for a Business Sales Account Manager to join their team and manage the sales activity with a current database of existing clients.

A full time job Paying up to £28,000 + Bonus (Realistically £5000 extra) there is a continued progression for the successful candidate to expand this role within a year from an Internal Business Account Manager whilst you learn the business then 6-12 months to a field based Sales Account Manager.


The purpose of your role will be to plan and develop commercial sales activity with a key focus on maximising profitability with their current clients. To maintain and develop a profitable and sustainable portfolio of accounts via Telephone account management and grow their business. To work in conjunction with the Commercial Sales Team working in the same area to ensure excellent account management.

Targeting and procurement of new business within their current clients through focussed sales activity

Evaluation of existing customer base to ensure volume/margin maximisation at all times

Accountable for retention of existing customer portfolio

Management of existing account degradation via action plan reporting

Negotiating & re-negotiating contract terms in line with commercial propositions

Management of prospect customers utilizing account management tools such as sales pipeline reporting

Management of legal diary for existing contracted commercial accounts to facilitate retention

Reviewing & monitoring sales performance processes to ensure margin maximisation

Analysing and reviewing sales information to ensure optimal efficiency & performance

Awareness of marketing opportunities to promote sales

Planning & managing sales focused projects as appropriate

Ensure all sales are conducted in accordance with agreed company standards such as: pricing policies, company sales approach and data protection etc.

Record accurately all customer interactions which take place, in accordance with company guidelines

Create and maintain, an up-to-date knowledge of competitor activity and developments, and record them within the appropriate internal systems
Communicate competitor activates for your area weekly

Record all quotes communicated to customers into the system

Ensure the sales pipeline is kept up to date

Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all the company’s products and services


The ideal candidate will have

Can objection handle well

Good organisation skills and ability to prioritise

Good listening skills

Outstanding organisation skills

GCSE Maths and English a requirement

Sales Negotiation experience is desirable

Ability to work autonomously

Previous experience of account / portfolio management is desirable.
