Our client is an entrepreneurial group of companies, with business interests in a range of exciting areas, based in the Esher area.

We are currently recruiting for an accomplished Bookkeeper to complete an intial 7 month fixed term contract, to commence employment by the end of February at the latest.

This role requires the candidate to deal with all aspects of Bookkeeping up to Trial Balance, plus assisting the in-house Accountant with the preparation of Management Accounts and Year End Accounts.

This role is a multi-company role, across 15 companies (of varying sizes and complexities), so requires a candidate that is able to multi-task, able to prioritise their workloads, be self-managed, and work to tight deadlines. The candidate will also be required to support the Accounts Assistant in her role, where required. The role is quite challenging in terms of workloads, but offers a wide variety of tasks.

Duties will include:

• Cash-flow management (in Excel)
• Monthly payroll (where applicable), including RTI submissions, managing of auto-enrolment pensions and assisting with P11D’s
• Management of and reconciliation of hire purchase and lease agreements
• VAT returns
• CIS and PAYE returns
• Bank reconciliations
• Reconcile TB to hand over to in-house Accountant
• All control accounts
• Loans and inter-company loans
• Banks and credit cards
• Debtor and creditor reconciliations including ledger reviews ensure they are kept clean (including bad debt / write offs)
• General P&L review for department / nominal/ VAT allocations
• Assist in-house Accountant with the preparation of Management Accounts
• Assist in-house Accountant with the preparation of Year End Accounts
• Input purchase invoices
• Sign off weekly / monthly supplier payment runs
• Raise sales invoices
• Chase debtors
• Other ad-hoc accounts projects, as requested by in-house Accountant

Technical Skills
• Bookkeeping to Trial Balance
• Experience with preparation of Management Accounts and Year End Accounts
• Full payroll experience
• Strong Sage 50 Accounts
• Sage Payroll
• Demonstrable Excel skills

Person Specification
• A strong team player, able to work in an agile and able team
• Ability to work across a number of operating businesses
• Able to commute to Esher area comfortably
