Reed are currently seeking an assistant group accountant to help and assist within the finance department of a well know company based in Sholing.

8.00am to 5pm (although consideration would be paid to any
candidate who could commit to at least 30 fixed hours a week spread
over 5 full days)

The Role
To join a busy
Accounts department based at our Head Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Group Accountant in ensuring accurate and timely Financial Reporting, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, and the general smooth running of the Accounts Department to ensure it provides an excellent service to the Branches and Divisions.

This position is designed for someone who has attention to detail, commercial nous and can work under their own initiative with the minimum of supervision.

To include, but not be restricted to, the following duties:

- Branch Cash Sale reconciliations/Postings (daily)
- Internet Sale/Receipts reconciliation (daily)
- Current Bank Account Reconciliations
- Foreign Bank Account Reconciliations
- Invoice Discounting Reconciliations
- Inter Company Reconciliations
- Raising Monthly Inter Company Invoices
- Raising Miscellaneous Invoices and chasing payment thereof
- Regular investigation of debit balances on Purchase Ledger
- Other Balance Sheet Reconciliations and implementing Control
- Accruals and Prepayments
- VAT Returns
- Internet Banking and Payments
- Petty Cash
- Completion of various Office of National Statistics Returns
- Assisting Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and General Ledger as
- Supporting and deputising for the Group Accountant
- Assistance with K8 implementation and accuracy of data transfers
from Sxe
- Assistance with preparing the annual Audit File and checklist
- General Accounts administrative duties including answering the
phones, filing, dealing with e-mails and faxes

Key skills to include:
- Recognised Accountancy Qualification
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent accuracy/ Attention to detail
- Good organisational skills
- Experience of fully integrated Accounting systems
- Good MS Office skills (good knowledge of word, excel, power
point and outlook in general)
- Able to respect Confidential Information
- Able to Supervise Staff when necessary
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks accordingly
- Ability to deal and communicate with people at all levels both
internally and externally

Previous experience in a similar role within a similar sized commercial organisation is essential.
