You will be responsible for the effective acquisition, documentation, and care of the Archaeological collections. You will also work with museum colleagues to develop accessible collections that provide learning, inspiration and enjoyment for everyone. This will be a very active role for the right candidate as there is a lot coming up in this space, namely the new “Thames Estuary Experience”. You will also be expected to promote some of the current collections “The Prittlewell Prince” and “The London - Shipwreck” being two examples.
You are expected to be educated to degree level or equivalent ideally with a post graduate qualification in Archaeology, Museum Studies or Curatorial Studies. You should have knowledge of museum documentation procedures to SPECTRUM standards and have experience of working in a museum environment in a curatorial role. You will be expected to deal with members of the public and arrange museum exhibitions and events.
