Assistant Accountant with strong Excel skills

Our client is a forward thinking and innovative provider of education services.  Operating since 2014, they are an energetic start-up business that has experienced 300% growth in the past 12 months.  This growth pattern is set to continue and they are currently looking to recruit a dynamic and ambitious Senior Accounts Assistant with excellent MS Excel and data manipulation skills to join their small finance team.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accounts Assistant's role is to support in the preparation and maintenance of the company's financial records.  Duties will incoude the following:

Purchases
• Processing of all purchase invoices, expenses and credit card transactions.
• Supplier statement reconciliations
• Preparation of all purchase orders
• Setting up new suppliers
• Preparation and processing of partner commission invoices to partners on a quarterly basis
Cash
• Booking of all cash transactions
• Weekly reconciliation to bank statements
Revenues
• Reconciliation of cash receipts to sales made each month
• Ad-hoc invoicing to customers
• Calculation and booking of consumer revenues each month
VAT
• Preparation of monthly VAT information for submission to parent company
• Liaison with parent company on VAT reporting
Other
• Reconciliation of intercompany transactions
• Annual Statutory audit work, working closely with external audit teams
• Preparation and analysis of monthly spend for review with budget holders
• Provide training when required to new starters / other teams


Ideal profile for the Senior Accounts Assistant:

• Part qualified or qualified by experience
• Strong Excel skills (e.g. sumif, lookups, if/and/or logic functions and pivot tables)
• Excellent reconciliation and problem solving skills
• Strong system skills
• Familiarity with QuickBooks would be an advantage
• Strong interpersonal skills – able to develop strong relationships with other departments
• Can-do attitude with willingness to support/cover the Finance team on an ad hoc basis
