Key Responsibilities

• Accrual accounting at month end and year end, including accruals, prepayments, journal adjustments, internal recharges, overhead charges, provision of balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation for audit.

• Responsible for the financial management of Head Office managed contracts, including regular monitoring of expenditure, preparation of financial returns, processing of payments to partners (where relevant) and auditor’s queries.

• Support the operational management of HO CS, CS People and Strategy unit budgets including –

•Budget setting and review, including any efficiency targets required as part of the annual budget process

• Regular forecasting reviews with budget holders during the financial year, considering the impact on future financial years

• Provision of financial analysis, advice and guidance to the budget holder as required

• Maintain and update the budget spreadsheet for completion by services, acting as main contact for any queries and corrections as required.

• Assist the Head of Children’s Service’s Accounting in the preparation for the Children’s Services department year end accounts, including the preparation of notes to the accounts etc.

• Act as lead contact with Regional finance teams in the collation of audit data as requested by the external auditors, providing advice and support where required.

• Liaise with the auditors as required to support and resolve CS related queries during the external audit process.

• Responsibility to maintain membership of Professional Body, via Continuous Professional Learning etc.

Experience Needed

• 2 years’ experience at a strategic level and as a business partner to budget holders

• Providing managers with financial advice and solutions to financial problems

• Experience of using accounting related software and Microsoft Excel to an advanced standard

• Producing budgets, forecasts and monthly management accounts, including variance analysis

• Ability to identified issues at an early stage and highlight potential issues to budget holders, Head of Children’s Services and other key contacts as required
