Our client is currently seeking an Assistant Accountant, to assist with all aspects of Nominal Ledger, Banking and Finance. You will assist with general administration tasks as and when required and you will be given commercial overview of all departments and practices.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Processing Overhead Invoices when required
  • Cover for Purchase ledger when required
  • Assisting with month end procedures
  • Fixed asset register
  • VAT returns
  • AWRS management
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Cash flow projection
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Accruals & Prepayment journals
  • First Draft profit & Loss reports
  • Process Duty/VAT transactions
  • Ad Hoc reporting
  • Project work as directed by FD
  • Ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Provide cover to other areas in the department as required
  • General admin duties

This is not an exhaustive list and you are required to be flexible in your approach to carrying out your duties which may change time to time in order to reflect business need or for the company’s continuous improvement. Project work may require travel offsite for a maximum of 2 days per week when required.

Person specification:

  • Excellent computer skills, including all programmes within the Microsoft package
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan workloads in order to ensure internal demands are met
  • The ability to be both proactive and reactive when responding to matters arising at work
  • Experience of working with nominal ledger preferred  
  • Ability to investigate and make corrective actions
  • A thorough understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality
  • Understanding of key HMRC process and requirements
  • Excellent admin skills  
  • Part qualified CIMA/ACCA
  • Previous experience in reconciling accounts & investigative work
  • Systems implementation experience would be an advantage
