Our client is a successful worldwide distributor that is growing and is looking for a Credit Controller to join their team for a 1 year contract initially with the view to make the role permanent. Role: Credit Controller

Location: High Wycombe

Salary: Up to £25k (based on experience) + Discretionary bonus

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Working both independently and as part of a team:

  • Help maximise the company’s cash collection
  • Keep customer information up to date
  • Help assess the creditworthiness of customers
  • Manage orders held for credit reasons
  • Efficiently resolve queries

SCOPE

  • Company turnover £122 million
  • Trade Debtors €20 million
  • Number of customers circa 1000

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Collection

Use proactive action and continuous monitoring of sales ledgers to prevent late payment occurring

2. Investigating credit risk

Collect information on new and existing customers to be used by the Credit Manager and Credit Risk Specialist in assessing their credit worthiness. This will include using credit reference agencies, Companies’ House and trade references

3. Sales Ledger    

  • Raising and sending invoices and monthly statements
  • Preparation for month end close

4. General

  • Maintain written procedures
  • Customer master-file maintenance
  • Deputise for others during periods of absence
  • Any other duties deemed necessary

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

  • Achieve monthly target for cash collection
  • Assist in maintaining and improving DD collection %

DEVELOPMENT

  • Potential to train/progress in risk assessment skills

PERSONAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A professional phone manner
  • Good organisational skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team, willingness to learn and communicate effectively
  • A mature and flexible personality: capable of dealing with all types of customers
  • Discipline to follow tasks through to their conclusion
  • Complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy and diligence and use own initiative to help solve problems
