On behalf of Southend-On-Sea Borough Council, Reed are seeking an administration assistant within finance to play a key role in supporting the Early Help, Family Support and Youth Offending Service.

This role is being offered on a full time permanent basis, meaning you will be eligible for the Council’s benefits package.


The main responsibilities of this role include supporting the needs across the various departments (8 teams) within the service via processing; purchase orders, invoices, and all associated financial transactions. Due to the activities carried out by colleagues within this service area, the accurate distribution and tracking of petty cash is key to this role, alongside processing relevant expenses.

The job role also covers the reception area of Civic 2 which has visitors from those using the services of family support and youth offending, therefore sensitivity and confidence when interacting with this client group on a front line basis is key. Naturally time management and prioritising is also critical within this role so that the workload is completed in a timely fashion within this busy environment.
 



The team are seeking someone who can provide an efficient multi-skilled administration service, following financial procedures, therefore being confident in using IT programmes such as Excel to effectively monitor, track and maintain accurate data collection is required. It would be advantageous if you held a qualification to level 2 NVQ or equivalent but the team are seeking someone who can work in a busy environment due to the reception cover. Furthermore, it is desirable if you have experience on the in-house systems such as Agresso, however training will be given.
