Superb and rapidly expanding Suffolk business are looking for an Acrylic Fabrication Specialist with experience of prototype manufacturing. The company works with some of the biggest global brands and have gained a reputation for producing innovative, exciting and unique retail display solutions.

Role Details
Building prototypes from CAD drawings in a timely fashion, which are sent to the customer for approval of design and concept.

The role relies on clear communication with various internal team members including:
• Requesting machine time with the Machining Supervisor and Print Room Manager to help make the prototype
• Relaying flaws or difficulties in design back to the CAD Technician and Project Manager
• Using the Prototyping sheet to list component parts used in detail for the CAD Technician to update the design and for the Project Manager to update the Bill of Materials ready for ordering for mass production
• In addition, a record of times to complete each part of the prototype would need to be added to the Prototyping sheet for the Project Manager

Ingenuity is encouraged as new ways of finishing or lighting a product for example could win more work, so an interest in new media or material on the market is key.

The Prototyper will predominantly be working in the warehouse area and must be willing to wear PPE on occasions.

• Using the in-house machinery to create a high-quality finished prototype
• Designing, editing and creating toolpaths
• To attend regular meetings and communicate verbally with internal teams with details of the project
• To actively listen to feedback in order to document and make changes to the prototype
• To provide regular updates on how the prototype is proceeding
• To assist the Machining Supervisor in their workload should they require
• To deal with multiple projects and track progress of each one
• Minimise unnecessary risks and inform the Project Manager of any H&S considerations
• Complete detailed paperwork for interpretation by the CAD Technician and Project Manager

• CNC programming/operating, fully conversant with CAD/CAM software usage
• CNC machining with 3-axis
• Knowledge of production and manufacturing processes
• Designing and editing drawings
• Experience of operating hand tools and power tools
• Ability to analyse drawings and problem solve
• Ability to accurately measure
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales
• Flexibility
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Ability to communicate clearly with various team members

• Experience of plastic/acrylic fabrication
• Experience of working with a Multicam machine
• Experience of working with EnRoute software
• Experience of CNC machine with 5-axis
• Experience in electrical engineering

• Experience of working in a small team
