Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts assistant or Manager should have proven current construction industry experience, particularly with multi-site projects, a hands on approach to meet the ethos and demands of the firm. Responsibilities include assisting the Finance Manager to manage a small team, project cost control, and financial reporting to meet deadlines. Knowledge of HMRC compliance needs for VAT, payroll, PAYE and CIS is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Purchase, Subcontractor, Sales and Bank transaction processing
• Ensuring accurate contract cost processing
• Monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
• Payroll processing
• Providing information to support the Finance Manager as required
• Developing and maintaining good supplier relations
• Preparation of VAT and other HMRC returns
• Preparation of VAT and CITB returns
• Insurances renewal preparation
• Fleet and plant costs analysis

Qualifications and Skills:
• 4 years plus bookkeeping experience – SAGE Line 50 knowledge preferable
• Knowledge of the construction industry covering VAT, CIS and CITB
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Organised and methodical
• Strong IT skills including Word, Outlook and Excel, for the production of emails, letters and spreadsheets
• Able to carry out tasks with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy
• Able (and willing) to demonstrate a varied skill set
• Strong numeracy skills
• A progressive outlook, not afraid to question the status quo
