REED Accountancy are pleased to be working with a successful retailer based in Bedminster who are looking to appoint an experienced accounts assistant on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave.

This role will see you being the main person in finance for the Bristol office. You will be responsible for the maintenance of the company’s computerised cash book, together with the maintenance of both the sales and purchase ledger and processing a small payroll,whilst reporting into the FD (remotely).

Responsibilities will include:

• To maintain the purchase ledger by the processing of invoices, drawing up and issuing of supplier payments by BACS and cheque and recording of the same on the ledger

• To maintain the sales ledger, regarding the recording of customer payments and chase customers for payment as necessary

• To maintain the cashbook by entering all of the payments and receipts

• To process and pay monthly salaries

• To maintain records and ensure payment of all PAYE/NIC/Pension contributions

• To maintain credit control records, issue statements and reminders

• To take responsibility for bank reconciliations and petty cash

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will have experience of all aspects of maintaining both sales and purchase ledgers, together with completing and reconciling cash books.

Advanced Excel skills are vital as the majority of the company’s reporting and analysis has been developed using spreadsheets.

A working knowledge of Sage accounts would be an advantage, as would a knowledge of Payroll (including statutory maternity and sick pay).

Skills & Experience Required:
• Part Qualified AAT
• Advanced Excel skills
• Sage payroll and accounts preferred
