Job title: Accounts Assistant

Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday

An established fit-out and refurbishment company based in London is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their team and assist with a range of tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in an accounts role within the Construction industry that are looking to gain further exposure and progress their career. 


  • Assisting the Finance Manager in maintaining the business’s accounting records, updating the supplier’s ledger with invoices, maintaining and reconciling the business’s bank account, petty cash records, and adding and reconciling the business credit card transactions
  • Dealing with accounts queries

Purchase Ledger & Sub-Contractor Management

  • Check all Subcontractor Certificates raised by Commercial Managers on system
  • Management of CIS Verification’s & Insurances
  • Adding supplier invoices to purchase ledger
  • Purchase Ledger Reconciliations
  • Process Purchase Ledger & Subcontractor Payments
  • Issuing of remittance advice to Wholesalers & Subcontractors
  • Issuing CIS statements to Subcontractors
  • Maintaining Clean Ledgers & Filling System

Bank & Cash

  • Update bank position
  • Create payments for approval
  • Post payments in SAGE Line 50
  • Daily Bank reconciliation
  • Post credit card & Direct Debit Payments


  • Collate Client-side retention
  • Collate Sub Contractor retention schedule
  • Issue retention subcontractor payment certs
  • Control and post petty cash expenditure


  • Monthly CIS

Sales Ledger

  • Issue customer invoices from valuations
  • Chase commercial managers on pending and outstanding payments

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience with Sage and Eque2 would be a bonus
  • Accounting Experience within the Construction Industry
  • Understanding of CIS Legislation
