Reed are currently representing a client based in fareham buisness park, they are seeking an accounts assistant to join their growing team.

Following a period of sustained growth within the construction sector an exciting opportunity has arisen for an accounts assistant to join this very successful Hampshire based SME near Fareham employing approximately 155 staff. The role is initially to cover maternity leave but will be offered on a temp to perm basis.

In terms of personality the ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with an enquiring mind. You will be a team player with the potential to play an important role in the effective administration of Subcontractor relationships as well as processing staff expenses, paying attention to HMRC requirements. Additional responsibilities are shown below.

It is envisaged that the role will have appeal to those candidates who enjoy a challenge and are prepared to undertake a formal course of accountancy training whilst at the same time learning about finance within the construction industry.

You may have gained experience working in industry and already be studying for a recognised accounting qualification.
Working within a finance team of six at the company premises near Fareham your responsibilities will include the following:

Processing Subcontractor applications for payment
Processing Subcontractor invoices for payment
Processing Subcontractor notice of payment plus self-billing payment certificate
Processing Subcontractor accruals
Maintenance of the administration of the Subcontract ledger, e.g. insurances, self-billing arrangements & verification
Prepare & reconcile multiple bank accounts
Processing company credit card expenditure
Scrutinise & process staff expenses twice monthly
Assisting Accounts Manager as and when required.

Skills required:

Good general level of education providing entry to formal course of accountancy study

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, particularly Word & Excel
Aptitude for using computers
Demonstrable willingness to learn
Capacity to be a team player
