Are you AAT qualified or an ACCA/CIMA student seeking a sole charge accounting role as the next step in your career?

My client, a well established manufacturing business located in South West London are currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to manage all of the transactional accounting for the business as well as assisting with month end closing and the production of management reports. In addition to to this, you will also be expected to assist on HR matters for the business and will report directly to the Accounts & HR Manager. 

Key responsibilities

Purchase Ledger: 

• Posting Purchase Orders, delivery notes, invoices and staff expenses claims into accounting software
• Raising queries with Procurement regarding any delivery quantity or price discrepancies ensuring these are closed in a timely manner or are escalated to Accounts manager
• Resolve with Procurement any missing POs
• Manage any prepayments agreed with suppliers ensuring the satisfactory closure of each transaction
• Manage all aspects of payments to suppliers
• Manage suppliers’ data.

Sales ledger:

• Posting all customer purchase orders to accounting software
• Raise and issue sales invoices

Payroll:

• Some experience of payroll would be useful but not essential as training will be given
• Administration of benefits, in particular private medical insurance scheme

Other accounting duties:

• VAT returns
• EU sales return
• Intrastat return
• Managing Cash books including
• Bank payments & receipts (multi currency)
• Bank reconciliations
• Invoice Factoring accounts
• Petty cash
• Assisting Accounts Manager in preparation of monthly management reports
• Update & maintain monthly foreign exchange rates
• Maintain accounts department filing system
• Update and maintain accounting spreadsheets as required e.g. fixed asset register
• Preparation of journal transactions for monthly accounts

The role will also involve some HR duties including:

• Ensuring recruitment requisition procedure is completed
• Placing of job adverts online and/or with recruitment agencies
• Collating all responses to job adverts and grading CVs/applications
• Arranging interviews
• Conducting initial interviews depending on role
• Communications with candidates
• Maintaining records and current job descriptions
• Monitoring and administering Performance Hub (appraisal system)
• Co-ordinate the Induction Process
• Review ongoing training requirements and maintain the training matrix

The successful candidate will have the required experience and be either degree educated, AAT qualified or in the process of completing ACCA or CIMA. The role is available immediately though 1 month notice periods are acceptable as a maximum. 

The salary on offer for this position is up to £28k plus bonus, and the role is full time and permanent. Private medical cover is also offered as part of the benefits package.
