I am currently working with a large accountancy practice who is looking for a Payroll Administrator for an initial 8 week temporary contract that may be extended or become permanent.

The firm is located in Warrington and provides complete accountancy services for a wide range of self-employed professionals and has grown rapidly in the last 12 years. They currently consist of two payroll teams offering an umbrella and limited payroll service to their clients overseen by the Payroll Team Leader.

The role will consist of –

• Process the payroll for limited companies on a weekly and monthly basis, ensuring payroll information is submitted to HMRC in a timely manner.
• Carry out payroll amendments as required by the customer
• Produce quarterly PAYE returns
• Produce Year-End payroll information
• Manage different populations of customers and process their payrolls as applicable
• Liaise with HMRC regarding a variety of queries relating to specific payroll matters through to legislation changes and RTI requirements etc.
• Process statutory claims i.e. SMP, SSP and SPP ensuring that advance funding from HMRC is requested
• Issue P45’s for leavers
• Process P45’s for new customers
• Speak to customers to explain how their PAYE has been calculated
• Maintain electronic and manual records in line with business procedures and statutory requirements
• Carry out work in accordance with internal policies and procedures and ensure that relevant compliance or regulatory requirements are met
• Any other duties that are deemed necessary to support the business.


To be considered for the role you must be able to demonstrate –

• Good understanding of tax codes and tax code changes
• 6 month’s payroll experience
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Professional telephone manner
• Strong excel skills
• An understanding of HMRC regulations and payroll requirements


It would be desirable if you have Payroll Bureau experience within an accountancy practice environment.

The firm are looking for someone who will be able to start immediately.
