My client a local police force based near Northallerton are looking for an interim accountant for am initial period of 3 months, but may well be extended.

In this role the successful candidate will:


• Assist the Senior Accountants in delivering the objectives of the department
• Be responsible for the timely delivery of statutory statements of accounts.
• The role requires preparation and preliminary financial analysis of capital, revenue and estates programmes each year and over the life of the projects.
• Responsible for the preparation and timely delivery of routine and non routine management information.
• The role requires analysis of financial performance which ensure linkages to operational activity for budget holders
• Responsible for delivery of specialist programmes of work that ensure appropriate value for money analysis across the business.
• Requires the use of costing and other analytical techniques to identify the opportunities for improvements and identification of best practices.
• The post holder will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of linkages to the management and financial accounts departments.
Main Responsibilities
• Provide information and advice on all aspects of Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, Financial Instructions and the Devolved Resource Manual.
• Implement and ensure that the force complies with all relevant legislation and guidance.
• Develop the skills and competencies of staff including undertaking regular performance reviews, and planning necessary training.
• Support, advice and coach managers in carrying out their financial and budget responsibilities.
• Produce an annual financial and efficiency plan for the appropriate force departments/areas.

Essential skills, experience and qualification

• For this role you will ideally be studying for CCAB Qualification or has equivalent experience and able to demonstrate equivalent level of expertise.
• Senior Management communication skills.
• Financial and management accounts experience
• A successful track record of delivering improvements in Financial and business processes through their accuracy, consistency, reliability and timeliness.
• Experience of interpreting complex changing environments and aligning financial resources to meet business requirements.
