Technology (Commerce & Industry) Market Overview
Outsourcing has been taking off with more organizations outsourcing their IT and as the outsourcing process matures there is consolidation with Infrastructure as well as Application management. This is impacting a lot of IT professionals who are finding themselves to look for other opportunities and perhaps look at different roles and in some cases re-train.
Singapore continuous to attract number of smaller MNC's to move some of the jobs from Europe and other developed countries to Singapore however this is much smaller numbers. Singapore is no longer as attractive from a cost point as such some companies especially in the USA are finding it easier to recruit people locally.
There is definitely more movement in the hiring for IT towards the second half of 2013 and we are seeing new roles being created in selected organizations. The salaries in general remain flat and not much in percentage hike during a job change. The average salary hike when changing jobs seems to be between 15 to 18%. Bonuses seem to be decent in the commerce domain and holding on.
The rise of the Business Technology partnering roles remain strong as managers seek technology staff who have a good domain knowledge of the business function or domain. Other areas where we see growth would be in Business Analysts, Business Intelligence, Project Management and Enterprise Architecture.
