Working on many aspects of the production of planning policy, which may include researching evidence; drafting policy documents; carrying out and analysing the results of public consultation and the sustainability appraisal.

This will include the following:
• Lead on elements of research and evidence gathering required to inform planning policy documents
• Play a role in the formulation, consultation, analysis and refinement of policy options
• Take a full role in community and stakeholder engagement
• Prepare evidence on behalf of the client and present this evidence at examinations
• Provide advice and support to forums
• Project manage own workload with minimal supervision and work effectively in a team to deliver projects
• Provide advice to Development Management officers, other services, elected Members, stakeholders and members of the public on a range of planning policy matters and technical areas
• Contribute more widely to the delivery of excellent service to all customers

The successful candidate will possess RTPI recognised qualifications in Town and Country Planning or equivalent and be able to demonstrable up-to-date knowledge of current UK planning law and Government guidance. My government client has an immediate vacancy for a Building Control Surveyor to work in their city centre location. The position will be to provide a comprehensive Building Control service, ensuring that excellent customer service is at the heart of what you do. The role is required to be forward thinking and actively take part in providing innovative ideas for driving the service forward and securing business to increase revenue streams and improve our market share within the City of Oxford.

You will be tasked to support to the service area on delivery of the Corporate and service plans using appropriate organisational tools, policies and procedures

• Undertake the complete range of projects including dangerous structures, domestic work and commercial projects in accordance with the relevant legislation.
• Undertake site inspections and plan assessments including checking consistency with planning approval
• Deal with demolitions and dangerous structures
• Enforce non-compliant and unauthorised building works, serving notices and initiating formal legal proceeding
• Provide pre-application advice to Council departments, industry professionals and the public
• Ensure all electronic and paper records/documentation are comprehensive and updated on a daily basis
• Promote and market all aspects of the Building Control Service through appropriate means in conjunction with the Team Leader
• Liaising with the technical support team and other professional colleagues on consultations, applications and office procedures
• Where applicable provide building control fee quotations and tenders
• To act as ambassador for the service area both internally and externally representing the service area priorities and organisation initiatives as appropriate
• To contribute to projects; to contribute to service project teams as required
• To support development & delivery of a system of continuous review and improvement within the Service so that ‘traditional thinking’ is challenged and innovation pursued
