The role


The Integration and Test Manager will be responsible for all the integration and test activities at our Cardiff office and will manage a growing team of experienced and capable engineers.

• Working closely with senior management and other teams to propose and agree the overall testing strategy and roadmap;
• Recruit and build the best possible Integration and Test team to match aggressive growth plans;
• Involvement with product requirements definition from the concept through to design and implementation, ensuring design for testability is considered and test strategies and capabilities are put in place for future products;
• Closely manage the day to day activities of the Integration and Test team ensuring they are focussed and driven to deliver products with unsurpassed performance and reliability;
• Provide constructive and detailed feedback and support for the development teams and contribute to initiatives to improve software quality throughout the development lifecycle;
• Leading initiatives to introduce automated and/or customised testing tools, and managing any external suppliers to deliver such tools where necessary;
• Identifying and managing outsourced testing services where beneficial;
• Integration and verification of software builds, bringing together software deliverables;
• Producing high quality candidate release documentation, and in conjunction with the Customer Support Team, end user documentation for the products;
• Liaising with the Customer Support Team to clearly understand how our customers use our products and gain a deep insight into how our products should perform, providing constructive feedback to the development teams.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills, qualities and experience:

• Extensive experience and a deep knowledge of integration and testing of software products as part of distributed systems on a range of platforms including Windows and Linux. The Integration and Test Manager must be not only the operational manager of the team, but also the technical guru within the team, and will have a complete knowledge of every aspect of the team’s work;
• Experience of automated test tools and strategies and the ability to convince stakeholders of the benefits such tools could bring to the company;
• Experience of testing and system integration of external data sources is highly desirable;
• Significant experience of managing teams of test engineers is essential. This includes recruitment, motivating individuals by setting clear and challenging objectives and ensuring that gets the best performance from the team;
• Experience of working with, and a clear technical understanding of, databases, preferably PostgreSQL, is highly desirable;
• Educated to degree level in Engineering, Computing, Maths or a relevant discipline.
